Creator Bios

Robin Mellom

Robin Mellom holds a Masters Degree in education and has taught grades 4-8 in Georgia and New Mexico. She currently teaches 8th grade English Language Arts in California through the state’s Virtual Academy. With over a decade of classroom experience, she has been trained in Writers & Readers Workshop, served as a judge in district-level writing competitions, and taught a teen program at the Cuesta College Writer’s Conference. She is the author of 10 children’s books which include THE CLASSROOM, a middle grade series with Disney-Hyperion, THE PAGES BETWEEN US from HarperCollins, co-authored with Lindsey Leavitt, HANNAH SPARKLES, a picture book series with HarperCollins, and CONFESSIONS FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S KID from Houghton Mifflin, which was named to three state book lists. As she toured throughout the U.S. for her author visits, she has presented to thousands of students on the key concepts they need to become stronger writers. She has trained teachers on implementing writer’s workshop and has presented at festivals and conferences such as the National Council for the Teachers of English (NCTE), the West Hollywood Book Festival, the Decatur Book Festival, The Austin Teen Book Festival, and the South Carolina Association of Librarians Conference.

Lindsey Leavitt

Lindsey Leavitt is a former second and fifth grade teacher and present-day writer/student/accidental homeschooler to five kids. Lindsey is the author of over a dozen books for children, tweens, and teens, including the COMMANDER IN CHEESE series, GOING VINTAGE, the PRINCESS FOR HIRE series and THE PAGES BETWEEN US series. Her titles have appeared on YALSA Best Fiction for Young Adults, Amazon’s Best Books of the Year, Bank Street Best Children’s Book of the Year, and Kid’s Indies Next List. Lindsey has been honored to guest lecture at multiple universities and present at hundreds of elementary & middle schools around the country, as well as conferences for teachers, librarians, and writers, such as American Library Association (ALA), National Council for Teachers of English (NCTE), Assembly on Literature for Adolescents (ALAN), Writing and Illustrating for Your Readers (WIFYR), The Highlight’s Foundation, and Children’s LIterature Association of Utah. Our Mission

We believe young people have an innate desire to create. To write. To draw. To sing and dance. They want to show us what they can do! The Pages Between Us Project was built on the idea of bringing young creators together so they can collaborate and grow in new and exciting ways. Two heads are better than one. And even in a time when we cannot always be near each other physically, there are ways to connect through technology that can make our connection even stronger.

There has been a shift in our society recently. Students are now using technology for learning as well as connecting. Navigating this road can be tricky for our young learners. Our commitment at The Pages Between Us Project is to support 21st Century learning by encouraging high quality work, resiliency, empathy, understanding of learning styles, and positive communication skills.  This will lead to creative and confident learners. Our focus is on relationships. Growing. Learning. 

Lindsey & Robin have written two novels together from different parts of the country. They will share the process of collaborating, writing, revising, and revising some more. There will be laughter and outtakes and many, many, many pages written. They will coach and cheer on young creators as they push them to boost their skills to the next level.
